[Chimera-users] Animation utility question

Hi Bixia,
I cannot reproduce this problem. I made a test session with two structures apart (saved one scene) and then used matchmaker to superimpose them (saved another scene) and then zoomed in (saved another scene). I tested each scene by clicking its thumbnail in the upper left area of the Animation dialog. Then I put all three scenes on the timeline and then when I played the animation, it showed the correct things: structures apart, moving together, then zooming in.
The "savepos" command is not relevant to to this situation. You just have to position the structures how you want before saving each scene.
Next, make sure that your scenes contain exactly what you want them to contain. Test each scene by clicking its thumbnail in the upper left part of the timeline, and seeing how they restore in the main graphics window. It is not necessary to move to timeline to test them. Your scenes would each need to contain all 3 proteins A,B,C if you expect there to be movement affecting their relative positions when you change from one scene to another.
If you still think there is a bug we would need you to use Help... Report a Bug and attach your session file and a lot of detail about exactly what you did and why you think the behavior is wrong. Also include your email address if you want feedback about your bug report.
I hope this helps,
Elaine

I am trying to make animation showing chain B moves (rotate and translate) in relative to A and C. For all the desired positions of B, I added to the scenes and dragged to the timeline. But when I hit play, I noticed that the relative position of B was maintained same as the last scene. Does that mean I failed to save the position of previously scenes? I also noticed that if I don’t move the chain, and I just rotate the whole thing and the animation works. Is there a special command to save the relative position? I tried savepos but it doesn’t seem to help. I would appreciate it if you could help me with this issue. Thank you!
