Hi Greg,

here is what is happening:

1) config
macpro nvidia fx 4500, using chimera build 2382 2007/04/17.
two displays, crt set at 800x600 120hz. lcd set at 2560x1600.
stereographics emitter exxr.

2) problem 1
protein is loaded into chimera and camera mode set to mono.
stereo sequential mode selected, protein disappears. program does not abort.

3) getting stereo working
set camera mode to stereo sequential. load protein.

4)problem 2
set camera mode to stereo sequential. set camera mode to mono.
Chimera aborts, with or without datasets.

Matt

btw, I plan to do some research on USB-HID connections with chimera.
I have a number of devices I will be testing.

Apple has added X11 stereo support, so it should just work. You should
try it and let us know (because we don't have one to test on). We have a
report that resizing the graphics window when it is in stereo doesn't
work, but we don't know if subsequent Apple updates fixed the problem or
not. If it is still a bug, the workaround would be to start chimera up
with the size of window you want with the --geometry option.

I believe the chimera aqua version works better in stereo (and gets you
multisampled antialiasing), but the Tk GUI has problems (which is why it
isn't recommended).

Perhaps others on this list can share their experiences?
