* Endowed viz chair
  - Chimera and ChimeraX license fees have been allocated to endowed chair fund.
  - Needs more than a dozen signatures to finalize.
  - Search committee meeting not yet scheduled.
  - Another pharm chem faculty search has been ongoing for a few weeks.

* Plato NAS disk
  - Connected by two bonded 10 Gbit/sec connections.  Uses NFS.
  - 17 TB RAID volume, all SSD
  - nas/databases, nas/home, nas/local mounted on plato nodes.
  - Each mount can be compressed on disk, costs about 4 percent in performance read and write.
  - Compression is not done on the client so it does not reduce bandwidth.
  - Speed of NAS seems faster than beegfs in Scooter's use, and generally more responsive.
  - Some files have been copied to databases and local.
  - Using 8K buffering good for small files, but not so good for Tbytes of data.
  - IPMI and web interfaces to configure NAS.
  - Could get more cache memory or NVMe for hundreds of dollars.  Could not use old plato memory, incompatible.

* Migrating files to NAS
  - Shutdown services that read/write data, then rsync files.
  - Change /usr/local symbolic links to point to NAS location instead of beegfs location.
  - Priority is to migrate services that have problems on beegfs, web servers, Trac.
  - Home directories will stay on beegfs.
  - Want mail spool directory to be able to use NAS so mail stays working when beegfs down for maintenance.
  - Nobackup directories might stay on beegfs.

* Wynton audit
  - Scooter is lead.
  - Logs being sent to UCSF IT.
  - Data-loss prevention software scans for PHI, not feasible on Wynton.  UCSF IT wants it on desktops.
  - Home directory backup system is almost ready.

* Wynton backups
  - Home directories are backed up.

* Cytoscape
  - Updating apps
  - StringApp has to migrate to new servers.  Lars leaving.

* 4A neighborhood gathering
  - Tuesday Dec 3, 11 AM - 1 PM in kitchen area.
  - Have open house in N453.

* Vacation
  Scooter will send link to his vacation photos.
