= Discussion Notes =

* ChimeraX 1.3 release
  - Zach will have blastprotein REST and GUI ready.  REST has been in use 2 weeks and new GUI will be added the next few days.
  - Greg has REST service for checking for updates working, ready to use it for notifying about new  releases.
  - Eric says everything required is in for 1.3.  May add model loops gui or color key toolbar icon if time permits
  - Tom has all AlphaFold capabilities in, will be polishing them.  Giving webinar on AlphaFold next week.
  - Elaine says docs are up to date and should have time for Eric's possible additions.
  - Look on schedule still for September 15 freeze and release candidate.

* Roadmap
  - Put all grant deliverables on new ChimeraX 1.4, 1.5, 1.6, 1.7 roadmap milestones.  Include CZI, Phenix, NIAID, R01 grant deliverables.
  - Add developer names to projects where possible.
  - Mid-October have long working meeting to refine and assess roadmap, possibly off-site.

* Job posting
  - One candidate applied, HR said did not meet minimum requirements.
  - Scooter will ask Alma since Hamish said he applied and does meet requirements.

* New computers
  - Have spreadsheet of new computer needs made by Scooter.
  - Tom Ferrin needs to approve purchases.
  - Lab finances discussed with Tara Wong and money is available.
  - Graphics cards currently over double suggested price due to shortages.
  - Can buy motherboards or parts to upgrade existing machines.
  - TomG suggests updating any desktops older than 3 years old.
  - Currently lab does not have any graphics cards from latest 2 generations.
  - Scooter says best to spend hardware grant money at beginning of grant so equipment is used for the work covered by the grant.

* SPOKE
  - Elaine is leaving SPOKE project.  Nothing to document because they lack developers to add new capabilities.
  - New commercial offering from SPOKE called BRIC is being created.

* Scooter's many projects
  - Scooter is about 20% on SPOKE
  - No longer on Adelson grant
  - Wynton taking lots of time -- currently investigating how to implement backups.
  - Computer security audit
  - Cytoscape.  Today is all day cytoscape meeting.
