* New machine learning computer
  - Scooter found HP Omen machine 10 i9 cores, 64 GB ram, 2 512 NVMe, 2 TB, ~$4000, Nvidia RTX 3090, Windows 11, custom configured, $4000.
  - HP machine could replace Boxx machine in vizvault
  - HP is not in Bear Buy, would need purchase order.
  - New Mac laptops expected to be announced Monday.
  - Could use wifi 6 with Quest 2 for VR, but would need security exception to run wifi 6 router.  Could instead try that by home.

* R01 proposal scores
  - Reviewers meet Oct 28,29
  - Scores should be available Nov 1
  - Summary statement should be available Dec 1

* ChimeraX 1.3 release
  - Git branch made a week ago for release
  - First release candidate to be made possibly today
  - Release candidate numbers will use "rc" e.g. 1.3rc20211001

* AlphaFold on Wynton
  - Next step is to make a cxservices account that can submit wynton jobs and have ChimeraX services use that account.
  - cxservices account will be part of ferrin group to allow wynton jobs.
  - Longer than 2 hour GPU job can run in institutional A40 GPUs.  Just request time longer than 2 hours and it should queue onto one of those GPUs.

* Job offer
  - All paper work done with UCSF HR, they will send offer letter.

* Assigning grant aims to developers
  - TomG made web page in chimera intranet of funded research plans
  - Next step is to extract aims of all grants to google doc to assign names of lead on each aim.

* Phenix / ChimeraX
  - No code going into Phenix and ChimeraX releases this month.
  - Interaction will be released in 6 months, next Phenix / ChimeraX releases.
  - Discussed using Pyro5 for commication, alternatives to be discussed at next meeting.
  - Next technical meeting in 3 weeks.

* Plato backups
  - done, Eric says our lab backups working
  - Scooter says push to add backups to Wynton, may be a long time in future

* Two factor authentication on VPN
  - Waiting to see if lab vpn will be allowed.
  - Elaine concerned that 2-factor will require smart phone

* Security audit
  - Aristotle and Alexander moving to wynton since they have multiple Kerberos accounts, avoids difficult P4 level security requirements.
