   - TomG got OSMESA for Linux to work and is in the distribution
     - Will test with lots of mmCIF files to check for failures, memory leaks, etc.
   - Greg made "make DEBUG=1 install" compile and install a debug version
     - C++ compiled with -g
     - If done at top level, Python will be compiled as debug version (object tracing, memory allocation checks, etc.)
   - Eric made status line updates immediate instead of waiting until later
   - Eric cleaned up pseudobonds (consistent API, naming)
 * error handling (catching C++ exceptions)
   - Using ctype "pydll" instead of "cdll" speeds up the code by ~6%
   - Hand-coding try/catch in C-linkage wrapper does not add overhead
