[Chimera-users] Minimum system requirements for software

System hangs when running Chimera are almost certainly because the graphics driver is unstable. The first thing to solve that is to update the graphics driver to the newest version. If you are buying a new system it is worth investing in some mid-level Nvidia or AMD graphics (~$100) if you want best Chimera performance, although Intel graphics will work fine too if the structures are not too large (< 100,000 atoms). For working on larger atomic models it is useful to have a faster CPU and more memory (at least 8 Gbytes for 100,000 atom structures).

Please email the minimum/recommended system requirements for the Chimera software. I’m in the process of building out a replacement system and need that information.
