[Chimera-users] Fixing the Frame size

Hi Jiri,
I believe you need to use the experimental “setzoom” command for setting number of pixels per angstrom, but it's not included in the Chimera download. It can be downloaded separately.

It is described here (ignore the part about “windowsize” which is now included in the Chimera download):
<http://www.cgl.ucsf.edu/chimera/experimental/zoom/zoom.html>

...and available as download zoom.zip from this page:
<http://www.cgl.ucsf.edu/chimera/experimental/experimental.html>

You would have to unzip the download to get the zoom directory, and then in the Chimera Preferences (open from Favorites menu), category : Tools, you would need to add the directory that *contains* the zoom directory (not the zoom directory itself) to the Locations section at the bottom. Then the “setzoom” command will be available for use. Remember to click Save to save the location in the preferences if you want this command available in other Chimera sessions later.

This code is from >10 years ago, but I tried it in the current Chimera (daily build version 1.12) just now and have verified that “setzoom” still works.

Note that “setzoom” sets the scale at the middle depth of the scene. There is still some effect of scaling from perspective, where closer objects are larger. To turn off perspective, you can use command “set projection orthographic.”

I hope this helps,
Elaine
