Dear Smith,
I would recommend using "section" yourself manually in the command line with small distance values.

In other words, you could run a script that has all the commands before that point. Then, in the command line keep entering "section" with short distance values.
Although there is a "pause" command that you can put into a script to easily escape or resume execution, it cannot be in the middle of some other command, only before or after it.
