Salut J-F,

That error message is coming from the OpenGL subsystem, not Chimera.  If 
you install the proprietary NVIDIA graphics driver, instead of using the 
open-source graphics driver, Chimera should work (or least give a 
different error message :-) ).  In general, on Linux systems, we 
recommend installing the vendor's proprietary driver for the best 
Chimera experience.
