I'm not sure what you mean by "extract mesh data".  If you mean export it as 
a surfaced so other software can display it than maybe menu File / Export 
Scene… is what you want (export as VRML, OBJ, WebGL, STL, …).  If you mean 
you want to segment part of your map, have a look at the Chimera volume 
guide.
