[Chimera-users] HDMI connection to 3D-TV and Chimera

We haven't yet tried Matt Baker's setup from the wiki page, but I have
seen many different model of Macs show double images when asked to
display in sequential stereo, so I would expect that it work on newer
systems.
If you are using a Windows or Linux computer, then you'll probably still
need a workstation graphics card, i.e., an AMD FirePro or NVidia Quadro
to do stereo-within-a-window. Unfortunately the manufacturer's websites
do not state which models support HDMI 1.4a. The wikipedia.org article
for the FirePro cards lists the V4900, V5900, and V7900 as supporting
HD3D which is AMD's superset of HDMI 1.4.a, so those should be good
choices. I have not found similar information for Quadro cards (and
it's unclear if something like the NVidia 3DTV Play product, that
supports 3D TVs for their GeForce cards, would be needed or not --
shouldn't be needed, but ...).
In all cases, it is probably critical that the output resolution of the
computer be 720p @50Hz or @60Hz since that is all that HDMI 1.4a
supports. 1080p at 48Hz should work too.
Good luck and please let know what you find out,
Greg
