thanks for your quick reply!
Yes, I kept the previous installation in a different directory and it
still works. So there must indeed be a difference between the two
versions that causes the problem.
And, yes, chimera 1.6.2 crashes when fired up and does not get to the
point where I could use the Help function. It shows the splash screen
and dies when displaying "initializing graphics".
I thus used the OpenGL debug function in version 1.5.3 to output the
info on drivers etc. (see attached image)
