Hi Maya,
The MRC format is almost identical to the CCP4 map format. Most
software that expects a CCP4 map will have no trouble reading an MRC
map. The main difference is in how they specify the positioning of the
map. The MRC map written by Chimera may not align with the PDB if
opened in a program that is expecting a CCP4 map. (I suspect it will
align in most other programs.)
