Hello,
The only time I've seem this kind of bug before is when the graphics
hardware is flakely. Since it works initially, it might be failing after
the graphics chip warms up, so it could be due to a broken fan in your
computer, or poor airflow, or a bad graphics chip, or bad graphics
memory, or ....
Since this still could be a graphics driver bug, please report this as a
bug using chimera's "Report a Bug" dialog found in the Help menu. That
will tell us about your actual graphics setup and let us make specific
recommendations on how to upgrade your graphics driver. But from your
description, I suspect this is a physical problem with your computer.
