Chimera checks /usr/lib/libGL.so.1 and /usr/X11R6/lib/libGL.so.1 to see
if they point to the same file or not. If they do not, then that indicates
that there was an OpenGL driver installation error -- sometimes resulting
in chimera not using the hardware accelerated OpenGL driver.
Could you send the output from:
ls -Ll /usr/lib/libGL.so.1 /usr/X11R6/lib/libGL.so.1
I'd like to confirm that they are different. And which version of Linux
are your running -- Red Hat 8.0? Mandrake? Suse? Debian? We'd like to
try to recreate the problem here.
