<p>I'm curious why you thought it would be fast? Running Chimera
remotely is a recipe for slow interaction. Chimera works best
when it is running locally on your computer (and not in a virtual
machine) and the data is on your computer. That also avoids any
graphics driver differences between the remote server and your
local workstation that cause bugs. Running Chimera locally on
your computer would probably fix your movie making issues too.<br>

<p>That said, it is possible to make the remote use of Chimera less
slow. If the remote server has a discrete graphics card and the
corresponding graphics driver installed, ask the remote system
administrator to install virtualgl. Virtualgl does the 3D
graphics on the server and copies an image back to your computer.
The interaction will still be slow unless both the remote server
and your computer are on the same local network, but it can make
it more usable.<br>

<div dir="ltr">The refresh rate of Chimera running on a linux
server is very slow. I'm connected to the server with an ssh
client with X server. I wonder if it's because Chimera is not
configured properly or possibly the X server. I also tried to
make some movies but they are always blank (black screen). Any
suggestions? </div>
