Hi Arthur,
I don’t think there is any way to save a default image width.  I believe it comes up with the same size as your Chimera window. You can set your default Chimera startup window size in Preferences… category: General, “initial window size”.  However, seems like 5000 would be too big for your actual window, so you probably wouldn’t want to do that.

I think you have to just enter it the first time you use the Image Save dialog after starting Chimera, but it will remember that number if you keep using Image Save again without quitting Chimera.  It won’t remember after you quit, though.
