Just re-saving to the same name will overwrite the original.  Also, you can remove a named selection with command ~namesel, for example

~namesel blah

Just thought I would mention:  A similar approach is to use "alias" instead of named selections (and there is also ~alias).  They are slightly different and each has its advantages. I personally use commands more often than the menu, and aliases more than named selections.  While named selections will appear in the Select menu and Rapid Access,  aliases generally won't,  unless you make special "action" aliases that appear in a new top-level Aliases menu.
