Also, Maya comes with a VRML converter in its bin directory called wrl2ma,
so you should be able to export VRML from chimera, run the wrl2ma program:
wrl2ma -i exported.vrml -o mayainput.ma
Then you should be able to open the mayinput.ma file in Maya.
