[Chimera-users] transparent background

Hi Dmitriy,
For images directly from Chimera, it depends on your computer.  The  
setting is in the Effects tool (Tools... Viewing Controls...  
Effects).  If not possible on your computer, I think there will be a  
message that says so when you try to turn the option on.

For images raytraced with POV-Ray from Chimera, there is a separate  
setting in the "POV-Ray Options" section of the Chimera Preferences.   
One way to show these options are by choosing File.. Save Image,  
setting the raytrace option to "true" and then clicking the "POV-Ray  
Options" button. Depending on your version of Chimera, it is  
described as an alpha channel or transparent background setting.

As noted in that manual page, you also need to turn off depth-cueing  
in Chimera (in the Effects tool mentioned above) to get a transparent  
background in the raytraced result.
