The error when importing numpy and Numeric on Mac OSX is something to
be solved by the numpy developers.
When NumPy 1.0 comes out we will look at switching Chimera to use it.
If we switch we will drop Numeric support. Chimera uses about 25 third-party
Python modules and maintaining them takes time away from developing new
features. The main consideration will be that NumPy is the most
reliable, stable, trouble-free solution.
