The image shows 14 copies of a monomeric GroEL crystal structure docked to a 10.3 angstrom electron microscope map. The functional GroEL is a 14-mer. Three domains of the monomeric crystal structure were docked separately. The microscope data is shown as a yellow mesh. The 12 semi-transparent surfaces are docked monomers. One monomer is shown as a ribbon, and one monomer shows the atomic structure with atoms as spheres.
The EM data and docking come from Helen Saibil's group. The data sets are Protein Data Bank model 1gr5 and EM Data Bank EMD-1042 (compressed CCP4 map file and xml header).
